What time is it? It's hammer time! I know that thanks to my new wooden watch from JORD. Yes, I said wooden, as in the type of wood a woodchuck would chuck if he could.
I admit it's been years since I've owned a watch, however, during the pre-texting days (I'm really aging myself here) I couldn't leave the house with out one. I came to the conclusion a few months ago that I wanted to bring watches back into my life. I'm growing tired of wrestling around my purse searching for my phone when ever I need to know the time. So I was rather excited when I was asked to review and giveaway a JORD Wood Watch.
I was doubly intrigued by the concept of a watch being made out of wood!
First and foremost, can you say "handsome"?
That was the first thing that came to mind when I checked out the JORD's website.
The wood hues used for the watches are so deliciously rich in color.
The company, which is based in St. Louis, uses a variety of natural and sustainably sourced wood from across the globe.
Secondly, I'm really digging the chunky watch style for gals right now and
their women's collection doesn't disappoint. Ahem....check out the Cora series. Ummm, yes, that face is turquoise. We all know how I feel about turquoise! One word. Obsessed.
I will add though that I also love the look of stacked watches and bracelets and think it would be great to see JORD add some smaller, daintier watches to their line as well.
I received the Fieldcrest Black for review and am surprised by how light weight and comfortable it is!
One would think a watch made out of a tree would weigh a lot, right?
I was also impressed with the fact that the wood stood up to my scissor carelessness when I went to remove a packaging tag from my watch. Even though I don't encourage stabbing your watch I'm happy to say mine survived with out a nick. A good thing for someone who is often wrangling and wrestling a busy sixteen month old boy. JORD does recommend applying some beeswax or walnut oil to your watch in order to protect it and prevent it from cracking and drying out over the years.
The timepieces are splash proof but as with most watches you don't want to submerge them. I wore my watch out briefly in some light rain and didn't have any issues.
All in all, I have to say the wood watch has won me over.
I'm looking forward to dressing mine both up and done.
I can see myself wearing it to work and on casual weekends.
Now for the REALLY exciting part!
JORD has kindly offered to giveaway a $120 JORD gift certificate + free shipping to (1) one lucky entrant.
Just in time for the holidays! Use it on someone special (remember I liked that Cora one....wink, wink) or keep it for yourself.
Shhh...it will be our little secret.
